It's hard to keep up with all the honors and awards MathPath alumni get! The
material below is from 2013 and earlier. We never had time to do a thorough
update for 2014. The next update will be in late spring 2015, when various
science and math competition awards are announced. We will skip 2014 and concentrate
on 2015. You can be confident there will be more awards like those below.

Sara Volz (MathPath 09) won first place and $100,000 in the
2013 Intel Science Talent Search (STS), for her research on
using algae to produce biofuels. Last year she was
declared a 2012 Davidson Fellow Laureate, and received one of Davidson's 4
top scholarships of $50,000, for the same line of research.
The STS is one of two yearly competitions
funded by Intel and run by the Society for Science and the
Public (SSP). The other is the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), won by MathPather Jack Andraka last year (see below). For more on these programs, see

The Davidson Fellows program is one of several programs for gifted youth of the
Davidson Institute for
Talent Development. A number of MathPath students have been
Davidson Young Scholars while they attended MathPath.

Sam Zbarsky (MathPath 07-08) won 7th place and $25,000 in the
2013 Intel Science Talent Search, for his mathematics research.

MathPath wins an AMS Epsilon Fund award in 2013 again!
We must be doing something right.
For the 9th year the American Mathematical Society has awarded us this grant.
We will use the money for need-based scholarships.

Jonathan Tidor and Rohil Prasad (both MathPath 09) were awarded a US$20,000 scholarship in the 2012 Siemens Competition in Math, Science, and Technology, for their team mathematics project "New Results in Staged Self-Assembly of Wang Tiles." For more about them click here.

MathPathers win 2 Gold Medals at 2012 IMO.
Two of the 6 members of the 2012 USA Team at the International Math Olympiad were MathPathers, and both won gold medals.

Jack Andraka (MathPath 09-10-11) wins first place ($75,000) at the 2012 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF)
for his new method to detect pancreatic cancer.
ISEF is a program of the Society for Science & the Public.

Adam Kalinich (MathPath 06-08) declared Finalist in the 2012 Intel National Science Search, for his math paper Flipping the Winner of a Poset Game.
Adam is one of 40 finalists who went to Washington DC in March

Victoria Xia (MathPath 09) wins Gold Medal at the 2011 China Girls
Mathematical Olympiad, and then wins first place at Math Prize
for Girls.
